Doing What We Can. 12th
Posted at 11:48 pm January

Every once and a while we all get a chance to make a contribution to something greater.  When something as awful as the earthquake that took place Tuesday, January the 12th occurs it falls upon the shoulders of each and every one of us to contribute where able, and however possible.

For those that don’t know, my mother is an immigrant to America from Haiti, and I spent a few weeks out of last summer in Haiti connecting with family I had never met, and reconnecting with family I hadn’t seen in years.  Haiti is in a desperate situation and the coverage and news emanating from the island is nothing short of heart shattering.

I have family living directly in Port-Au-Prince, in the epi-center of the quake, so it is needless to say that this disaster is hitting as close to home as possible.  If it is possible for you to do something to help, then I would ask with complete sincerity that you do what you can.

Thousands are going to be dead when this rubble finally clears, and that is only going to be the very beginning on the problems.  If you come to Award Tour to purchase a shirt every once and a while, I’d encourage you to take a second and donate just $5 to any one of the causes accepting donations for relief in Haiti.  Your chance to have an effect in an area that desperately needs it.

DONATE NOW WITH: AMERICAN RED CROSS

DONATE NOW WITH: CONVOY OF HOPE

For those interesting in helping immediately, simply text “HAITI” to “90999″ and a donation of $10 will be given automatically to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts, charged to your cell phone bill.

*I’ll be pushing up the release of some new beanies and donating all the proceeds to Yele Haiti relief efforts hopefully in the upcoming days.  Will come back with more info on that soon.

Stay Safe-Phil.

I was in Haiti also this past summer, visiting family for the first time in Port-au-Prince. It’s truly heartbreaking to see a country, my own country, struggle with so much political and social turmoil for hundreds of years; and now face a natural disaster of such proportions. Haiti is a strong country and I hope that this tragedy will inspire the new generation of young Haitians to rebuild their nation to its former glory in its past. I look forward to helping the AT family support all those in Haiti!

Just sent in a donation to Convoy of Hope. Truly devastating to see these type of things happening to countries that are already suffering from so much. God bless everyone in Haiti.

Man it seems like Haiti can never catch a break. I heard that you can send a text somewhere that’ll donate ten dollars to a relief fund, do you know anything about that?

Thank you so much, it is time for us as Haitian-Americans to stick together in this time of devastation. I still have not been able to get in contact with any of my family members living in Port-au-Prince or Cazale. I am extremely worried and heartbroken. Thank you again for your efforts to bring relief to the country in which my mother and father are both from.

Glad to hear that you getting involve Loch, Im thinking about doing the same thing to help raising money, maybe drop a special product and send the whole thing over there through Yele as well. This is probably the worst moment in haitian history.

Sending out my love to those suffering directly and indirectly right now. This is a huge disaster, but in it lies the potential for the very best to come out of it. I’ve given what little I have and hope that in a land of this much plenty, people can stop and help in any little way they can for the betterment of us all as a human race.
